Before you start
When creating product search text or investigating a missing or repeated summary.
- Describe the actual page and its useful details.
- Avoid unsupported offers, shipping claims and repeated keyword lists.
- Google can show a different snippet depending on the search.
Steps to follow
- Describe the specific product or page in natural language.
- Include useful facts supported by the source information.
- Check that the summary is distinct from unrelated products.
- Read the final text in Products and publish the intended version.
For example
A jacket summary can describe its actual cut and material instead of claiming it is waterproof when that fact is not supplied.
What happens next
The Shopify meta description changes after a successful publish. The Google snippet may update later or use different wording.
A useful tip. A useful, accurate sentence is better than a long string of search terms.
Take care. Do not expect the text to appear as a visible paragraph on the product page.
Common questions
Will Google always show it?
No. Google can build a snippet from page content and adapt it to the query.
Should every product use the same summary?
Use page-specific information where it is useful. Identical summaries often fail to explain meaningful differences.
Is a preview a guaranteed search result?
No. A preview is illustrative; actual search appearance varies.
If you are still stuck
- Check the Shopify field before paying to regenerate text because a search result has not changed.
