Before you start
When an accepted job stays active and you do not know what to do next.
- Queued work is waiting to start; Running work has started.
- Active status updates are designed to refresh in Jobs.
- There is no fixed completion time for every catalog and operation.
Steps to follow
- Open Jobs and identify the existing operation.
- Check its status, processed count and any visible error or pause reason.
- Use Refresh once if the view appears stale.
- Do not submit a duplicate job for the same items. Use Cancel only when available and you no longer want the remaining work.
- If the state remains unchanged unexpectedly, contact support with the ID, start time and current counts.
For example
A job can remain Queued before a worker starts it. Repeatedly clicking Generate creates a different problem rather than speeding that job up.
What happens next
Refreshing shows the current server state. It does not make a second generation request.
A useful tip. You can return to an accepted queued job through Jobs rather than keeping its original action dialog open.
Take care. Do not assume a static percentage proves the whole operation has failed.
Common questions
Should I reload the entire Shopify app?
Try the job's refresh action first. Reopen from Shopify Admin if the app itself is no longer responding.
Does closing the page cancel an accepted queued job?
Queued background jobs are separate from the page. Check Jobs for their actual state rather than assuming the tab controls them.
Is a stuck scan the same problem?
No. Catalog Syncing and Importing have their own status and troubleshooting path.
If you are still stuck
- If you see a failed state, switch to the failed-job guide. For catalog imports, use Scan stuck or still importing.
