Before you start
To verify a publication, investigate an unexpected change or undo a supported edit.
- A generation record and a published revision are different.
- Restore is a real Shopify write, not just a local preview.
- History is not a full store backup.
Steps to follow
- Open History and find the resource or action.
- Check the action type and available before and after values.
- To undo a supported publication, inspect the previous value and choose Restore.
- Read any conflict warning before confirming, then verify the result.
For example
After automatic Product Meta publication, History helps you inspect the recorded change rather than looking only for an unpublished draft.
What happens next
Viewing a history entry is read-only. A confirmed successful restore writes the previous value and records that action.
A useful tip. Use History together with Jobs: one explains recorded changes, the other explains the operation's progress.
Take care. Do not restore over a colleague's newer content without checking it.
Common questions
Does History include changes from other apps?
It covers supported changes Rankora records. It is not a complete audit trail for every app or manual edit.
Does a generation record mean content was published?
No. Check the publication or revision record and the actual Shopify field.
Can a restore recover every deleted draft?
No. A published revision and an unpublished draft are different records.
If you are still stuck
- If there is no supported revision to restore, contact support before assuming the previous content can be recovered.
