Before you start
When Product Meta, Image ALT or Collection SEO reports a generation error.
- Keep successful usable results instead of generating them again unnecessarily.
- Failed or skipped items without a usable result are not charged for generation.
- If automatic publication was enabled, some successful items may already have been published.
Steps to follow
- Read the visible error and open Jobs if the operation has a job.
- Check successful, failed and skipped counts, plus whether it was draft generation or publication work.
- Confirm that the affected resource still exists, the store session is current and credits are available for the intended action.
- Use a targeted Retry only when offered. If the same item fails again, contact support with the job ID and approximate time.
For example
A run can produce useful drafts for some products while another product fails. Repeating the entire run is not the same as retrying just the failed work.
What happens next
A retry attempts the eligible work. Check its outcome; do not assume failure or success changed every Shopify field.
A useful tip. Keep the exact error text. It is more useful than saying only that the app is broken.
Take care. Do not share access tokens, passwords or raw sensitive store data in a support message.
Common questions
Did the error erase my Shopify content?
A generation failure alone does not mean content was erased. Check publication results and History, especially when automatic publication was enabled.
Will retrying charge again?
Use the offered technical retry for failed work. Requesting a fresh generation is a separate operation and can consume credits for usable results.
Should I reinstall?
Reopen the app from Shopify Admin and inspect the job first. Reinstallation is not the normal first troubleshooting step.
If you are still stuck
- For repeated errors, stop duplicate attempts and send support the workflow, job or request ID, time and a screenshot with secrets hidden.
